If showed through his presentation
The plane engine explodes. What if all the experiences and dreams you wanted were taken in an instance. We take life for granted and some don't realize how fast it can be taken until they stare death in the face. Ric Ellias realized all these things while his life was almost taken away from him in a glimpse during a tragic plane crash. Let's start from the beginning. He is sitting in the front of the plane. Seat D1. Able to see the cockpit and the whole crew. While looking at the crew he and the rest of the passangers were listening to a loud cracking noise coming from the engine. While the plane was still climbing to 30,000 feet, The plane is full of smoke and before the cracking of the engine there was a huge explosion. At this moment Ric was curious and nervous because of what was happening around him and the rest of the passangers are just as nervous as him. Ric having the perk of sitting in D1 he asks the flight attendants "What's going on?" They replied "No problem, probably hit some birds." Ric still had suspicion but got a sign of relief from what the flight attendants had to say. The pilot starts to line the plane up with the Hudson River. Ric realizes and says to himself "This isn't usually the route". Engines turn off. The plane becomes completely silent. The pilot came on the intercom and says three words with no emotion "Brace for impact". In this moment Ric didn't need to talk to the flight attendants anymore. He could see terror in the flight attendants eyes and realizes life is over. After hearing those three terrifying words he frantically realized three things. First, he had an urgency to do as much as possible. Everything can change in an instant and be taken away faster than it was received. Also thinking to himself of all the experiences he wanted to create and all the time he wasted or procrastinated. The second thing he thought was clearing the George Washington bridge by not very much at all. He thought about how he has had a great life and tried to get better at everything he did. He also thought about how his Ego got in the way and regretted wasting time on things that did not matter with people that did matter. Lastly he thought as the plane was going down and closer to the water he said to himself "Dying isn't that scary, It's like we've been preparing our whole lives for it." Even though he didn't want to die, He loves his life and if he survives he will take the three things with him he thought about to help change his life. He ended up surviving. He was given a gift which was his life and a miracle of surviving the crash. By not dying on that day he got another chance to improve his life and put the three things he thought about into his life. He was able to see his future and past while the plane was coming down and was able to see what was wrong in his life. He knew what needed to be changed and added to improve his character.
